Issue #2, July 2010
(Q1 and Q2, 2010)
Map of foreclosure filings* for first half of 2010 (through June 23)
This map shows the distribution of filings as dots; and those neighborhoods with the greatest number of filings (as a percentage of the citywide total) are shaded darker. Keep in mind that these percentages were calculated regardless of a neighborhood's size or density, therefore we would expect some of the larger neighborhoods to have more filings.
Maps from Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond for March 2010
These four maps show the rate of delinquencies, foreclosures and REOs by zip code for owner-occupied and investor-owned properties.
Charts of sales, closing prices and days on market for first half of 2010
These five charts show the number of homes sold, median close price and median days on market, by zip code. Data is further broken down by transaction type (conventional, FHA-insured, and cash-only).
Chart of sales, foreclosures and short sales for 2009 and first half of 2010
This chart shows foreclosures and short sales as percentages of the total number of sales for Baltimore City and surrounding jurisdictions.
*NOTE: A foreclosure filing is one of the early steps in the foreclosure process and does not necessarily indicate that a foreclosure will be completed or that the house will be vacated. BHPC looks at foreclosure filing data as an early warning indicator for potential hotspots.
Remember, you can track up-to-date foreclosure filings by neighborhood and download address-level data on the BHPC page of the BNIA-JFI website!
